Trouble Starting a New Project in Across 5

I am trying to use the Project Wizard to start a new translation project.
The problem occurs when I try to add files to the new project (the second screen).
After I select a file that is supposed to be supported, when I click on Next, I get the following error message:
This document type is not supported by Across.
I tried all the following file types: .doc, .txt, .rtf, .xls. All of these are supposed to be supported, but I always get the same error message.

How do I get passed this stage in the Wizard? Is there another way to start a new translation project?

Try to reinstall Across May 27, 2010

It looks like the same problem as you are having with Alignment ("Alignment Wizard - "Next" is Grayscaled").
Do you have MS Office installed? It won't work without it.
If yes, try to reinstall Across.

MS Word Solved It May 27, 2010

I didn't realize it had to be installed. I thought it was enough to have .doc documents. After installing it, the problem was solved.

Across needs MSoffice to be installed (i.e. MSword) for background processes
