Hello,

I just now installed the latest version of Across but it won't work. When double-clicking the icon, I get the following error message:

Across.exe - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to
close the application.

My system is:
- Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1
- 64-bit Operating System

I've tried to repair the installation, and the repair process then reported that the program had been repaired successfully, but the same problem remains: It won't start and it displays the error message mentioned above.

What I can do?

I have just now accepted an Across project so I need this to work somehow. Should I try installing an earlier version of Across instead? If so, which version and where can I download it?

Right click on the Setup file and choose Properties from the popup menu then choose following settings:

Hello Linhdan,

Thanks, but it didn't work.

I followed your instructions and set the new settings you mentioned.
Then I tried to run the Setup file anew, but it wouldn't run and said that it required a newer version of Windows.

When I unchecked "Run this program in compatibility mode for" checkbox, the Setup file could run, but again, the resulting Across program won't run.

Registry solution Nov 18, 2014

Please try to open Registry Editor and search for this key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]

Double click on the LoadAppInit_DLLs value and change Value data to 0.

Across 6 PE setup failed Dec 17, 2014

I only have the message that the setup has failed and a log file. So now I'm waiting for the help of their support.
(Win 7 with all recent updates, running on VMware, prev version 5.7)

I'll share the solution here, perhaps it helps someone.

Solution - remove Search and Protect application, if you have it Feb 22, 2015

In my case - the fix was the following:

A Search and Protect program which is resident (always on) was installed on my PC - I think it came when I was installing another application.

Once uninstalled - the problem disappears - Across started with no other problems.

It's worth looking for similar application in your PC, which is blocking Across - such as anti-virus and other alike programs.

Rename *.dll files Mar 10, 2016

I had the same problem and solved it by renaming some dll files:

C:\Windows\System32\acapture64.dll(or acaptuser)
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\acapture32.dll (or acaptuser)
