Hi everyone!

I'm a bit confused regarding all these "free" programs to download on the web. Could you recommend me what is the clever thing to do, when I have a scanned (pdf) document and I want to know how many words is has AND know how many of these are "new text" or 100%match?

Until now, what I was doing was using OCR Abbyy to convert it to txt and so know the number of words. As a translation memory I downloaded Wordfast for Mac, but then, the program does not recognize my Abbyy-converted pdfs and i am helpless!!

Knowing that I work with a Mac Computer, which programs would you advice my to buy (or free download) so that i can:

1st: convert large scanned documents to readable texts.
2nd: use translation memory on these converted texts to be able to give my client a fair budget.

Thank you all in advance,

You have to export it from Abbyy FineReader Jan 18, 2013

In Abbyy FineReader you have to export your scanned document. You can do this in a variety of file formats, including Word (.doc or .docx). There will probably be formatting issues that you will need to fix, but any CAT tool can then handle the exported file.
