Can you help? I am looking for the dialog in Word for Mac that is called "Tools > Options" in Word for Windows. You know, the dialog box where you can set lots of general options, i.e. whether to show hidden text, field functions and what have you not. I have not yet managed to find it.
Best regards,
Tanja

Word > Einstellungen (next to the apple)

In the German version (Word 2004), the menu item is "Word > Einstellungen". Here you find most of the "control levers" that are listed under "Extras / Optionen" in the Windows version. Especially: Hidden text and Field functions (Ansicht).
Hope that helps?
Stefan

For future reference - not only in Word

The "Einstellungen" (Preferences) item is where you find a control room for almost every single piece of software that someone has taken the liberty to develop for the Mac. This is probably the reason why the Microsoft developers have chosen the same drawer that everyone else has been using.
Similar to the apple+q key combination for program exit.

And in most programms for Mac, you can open the "Preferences" ("Préférences" in French/"Einstellungen" in German) on clicking on Apple + , It works in Word, in Mail, even in Firefox etc.
