Do any of you know of any good searchable online Hadith databases, where you can enter a couple of the words (in Arabic) of a Hadith (recorded by any scholar) and come up with an accepted translation? I'm translating an article by an Azhari scholar which is full of Qur'an and Hadith quotes, and I don't like to make my own translations for either. Thanks,
Khalid

Not quite, but these sites may be helpful Jan 13, 2008

I haven't yet come across a "Hadith" site that's so easy to search for translations, but below are a few sites that have the translation of Hadiths.

I haven't had to translate Hadiths in a long time, so better sites may have appeared since then.

http://www.sahihalbukhari.com/sps/sbk/ (has a term search field, so you could try to guess some English words that may be included in the Hadith and search for those.)

Another way.... Jan 13, 2008

Try googling for the English translations of hadiths by writing the following:

"word1"+"word2"+"on the authority of"+"messenger of Allah"

(Don't forget the "inverted commas")

Hope it helps!

regards,
Mahmoud

Hi Khalid W!

I'd like to drag your attention to the fact that not all books of Hadiths are translated and the translated Hadith books do not contain all the Hadiths of the Prophet, peace be upon him. So, you first should search for the Hadith in Arabic to see whether it is included in the translated books or not. If it is not translated, you will have to search in Arabic lexicons and books of Hadith explanation in Arabic take for example this thread-- in which two Hadiths which are not in the translated collections-- are translated
