Can anyone tell me how much the social security, pension, and URSSAF contributions come to on 100 FF? I\'ve had conflicting information from various sources. | | | Carla Zwanenberg Netherlands Local time: 21:11 Member (2002) English to Dutch + ... |
Count on something around 55 F (before income tax).
In France, there is a choice of structure but most of us are \"profession libérale\". You will have minimum contributions to medical cover and retirement fund, each of these being in the region of 15,000 FF / p.a., most likely to be more in the case of retirement fund. To that, add your URSSAF contributions which will depend on your profit margins adn your already find yourself with quite a bit of money to cover. (Payments are generally made quarterly which is soemtimes tough on the cashflow, but if you write a nice letter and show that you are bona fide, you can probably arrange to pay on a monthly basis).
Chamber of Commerce local branches provide short (free, or nearly free) courses on setting up.
VAT compulsory if your annual turnover is 200,000 F or over, becomes worthwhile if you are making lots of investments if over 175,000 F (check these figures with your local CDI - I may be out of date/incorrect). Various possibilities for payment of VAT too, altho\' generally paid on receipts not amount invoiced. (Choice between \"réel simplifié\", which is not that simple ; and \"réel normal\" paying either quarterly with an adjustment on the third payment or monthly, on real amount in relation to receipts that month - bind with the paperwork, but easier on the cashflow).
That\'s it.

Hi,
First of all you may start by having a look at the Urssaf site : http://www.urssaf.fr/ I once looked into setting up as an independant and I worked out that for the first couple of years of practice you need to pay something like 5140 F of côtisations, 250 F of retraite (first 6 months) and 2050 of assurance maladie (first six months). One other excellent site to go to is www.canam.fr. This site covers all the various status and their implications.
One very interesting thing to know is that if you work from home you can deduct from your taxes, part of your rent or mortgage, electricity bills, heating....
Good luck !
