Thanks Harry B and Monika for enticing me to compete for good hints about the need to pay well for good translations!

Ref: http://www.proz.com/index.php3?sp=bb/viewtopic&mode=viewtopic&topic_id=10585&forum_id=19&start=30

(Thread initiated by Karin Adamzcyk: \"Insist on the rates you want\", a very readable thread!)

Building on that thread, my own thread of today (\"One arguments against low rates\") and on the world\'s love for acronyms (e.g. JIT, ASAP etc) I hereby add the suggestion

\"the JISST syndrom\"

You cannot pay for copper if you want gold.

Hunting for cheap translations might be shooting yourself in the foot.

If translation is cheap it might produce cheap results.

To pay more for translation increases the prospect of success.

\'Expensive\' translators might be cheaper in the long run.

are other possible alternatives.

Public recognition (and praise) of Mats' wit for acronyms May 7, 2003

Mats!

I\'d like to apply to Mats\' Acronym Fan Club - where can I find a form ?

I already credited you for this (see http://www.proz.com/kudoz/424455, bottom), but here is a good occasion to thank you personally for the WGD (Wild Guess Department) one that I read in a post from you that I wouldn\'t know where to look for at the moment. You know when you remember ny heart a great line of poetry that deeply impressed you back at school but can\'t recall the author name? Something of the like.

Please send me details to settle any outstanding royalties issue

Thanks for all the good smiles you generate!
