Quite a few of us belong to the 'expat club'.

The following list (from IHT) of Web sites is intended to be a resource for expatriates around the globe.

General resources
A general reference site, focusing on Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands with articles ranging from recent news to the best day spas in Paris. Classifieds and discussion forums are also available.

Detailed country profiles and articles from publications worldwide, published from Dubai Internet City in the United Arab Emirates.

On the Web since 1997, this site has city and country profiles, advice from readers, as well as an international education guide, articles on working abroad and more.

Discussions from Yahoo including forums for Indians living in Germany, expat mothers and Americans in Thailand. If you don't find a topic of interest in the more than 350 groups, then you can start your own.


This site, from the Centers for Disease Control, allows readers to select a destination and see recent information on diseases and outbreaks, required vaccinations for traveling and more.

Health conditions, statistics and legislation by country from the World Health Organization.

A substancial, (but not yet comprehensive), list of hospitals around the world maintained by Massachusetts General Hospital.

Family and children

A couple with experience in traveling with their children share tips on topics ranging from changing diapers at Buckingham Palace to the best seats on the plane for the kids.

A weblog from author Robin Pascoe about the challenges of living abroad, with a focus on women and families and a web guide.

Advice on how to raise children to speak more than one language.

Education and Language

This U.S.-based site lists study programs, internships, and entry-level job and teaching opportunities abroad. An embassy directory is also available.
