Dear Colleagues,

As the end of 2011 is approaching faster and faster now, I would like to know what
your goals are for 2012 in terms of your translation business.

It would be nice, if you share your thoughts.

Have a nice weekend,

Annett

Hahaha....I always had a problem with choosing the right expression for "Ziel"........

Nevertheless, I hope you can "feel" what I mean

P.S. I am no football/soccer fan, unfortunately, are you talking about next years
European Cup?

Have a nice weekend, though.

Annett

New website Dec 2, 2011

I want to finish a new website and promote it to the first page in Google for relevant keywords.

Besides that - just keep doing what I do.

Best Regards
Stanislaw

CPD! Dec 2, 2011

Just got my new computer and all my software is up to date, so in 2012 the plan is to join the IOL and increase my CPD activities, or maybe even volunteer for TWB as I love translating in the field of international development.

Also, would love to do a Masters starting with September - fingers crossed:)

Have a happy 2012!!!

I've just published my new website so my goal, (like Stanislaw's) will be to promote it to the first page in Google for relevant keywords.

However, Stanislaw is an SEO expert so he may will achieve his goal, while mine may just be pie in the sky!

Still, if anyone wants to help me achieve my goal, please click here

@Emma, @ Stanislaw Dec 2, 2011

I know how you feel!

The other day I somehow managed to reach the first page (!) and today I'm back on page 3 where I've been for the past couple of months.. I do not understand Google. (sigh)

SEO is definitely another thing to concentrate on in 2012!

2012..Let Success Showers on you Dec 2, 2011

Well I would love to get more and more care from my clients..

Haha..Jokes apart, this time I would like to give more focus to the requirements of my each client and serve them with all the best of everything. I would try to be responsible to take them through an easy journey towards success.

Hope my wishes get fulfilled with my labor.

In memoriam
Yes! And it will come true. Dec 2, 2011

I loathe book-keeping. Anything that is related to accounting, invoicing, banking, etc.
Now my husband will retire from his job by January. He will take all this stuff out of my hair. Problem solved.

Will I ever manage to do it? Dec 2, 2011

I set myself this goal year after year: learn to say no when taking care of a job means too much of a stretch.

Maybe it is faulty education, but I feel that I need to help the customer solve their problem, and I have succeeded thus far, but at the expense of very many hours that I should have spent in things other than work.

Will I ever manage to do it? No idea, to be honest. I will keep trying!

I've been putting off creating a website for years, so I'd like to finally get that done sometime in 2012.

Now I remember! Dec 2, 2011

In the heat of the battle with still some words to translate today, I completely forgot:

My personal goals for 2012:
- Joining the IOL (passed the DipTrans this year)
- Doing the ITI membership exam

Don't forget that you may be competing with larger companies ... Dec 2, 2011

... for some/many/all of your keywords. And these larger companies probably have dedicated SEO specialists employed.

These employees will analyse SEO data on a weekly, if not daily, basis. Based on these data, they will then optimise their keywords, etc. If you're only focusing on meta data, I doubt you have much chance of "bettering" them. And even they have to use a certain amount of guesswork to try to deduce Google's algorithms.

I would focus on the proportion of keywords in the natural text on any given page. At the last seminar I attended, the optimum level was given as approx. 5-8% which to me sounds very high for pages with a small amount of text. The text still has to read natural for any leads you attract.
