My client has a collection of documents with lots of repetition and would like me to bill him according to the % of matches.
How can I do that?

Use analyse function of Trados

You can use the Analyse function of Trados (probably also possible with other CAT tools) to determine the various % matches.
Based on your own Trados rate matrix (e.g. 100/60/30 for 0-74%/75-99%/reps&100%) you can then calculate the number of words in each category and bill your client accordingly.
If you have agreed a discount for repetitions only, you need to add up the word count for all matches except reps and then bill your client for the no. of reps and the 0-100%... See more

Thanks for the answer, but I don't have Trados. I work with Wordfast...
Is there a simple way in that program to get the information?
Thanks again, cynthia

Analysing with Wordfast
Feb 25, 2005
If you click the Wordfast button on your Wordfast toolbar and then select Tools > Tools, you'll see an Analyze button. I have not really used Wordfast yet, but I would say that's the way to go. Otherwise, you could check out any Wordfast forum, either on Proz or on Yahoo Groups.

Repetitions?
Feb 10, 2007
Hi Marianne, Can you then give me some idea of what you might charge for repetitions, if that's all the client has mentioned in terms of discount? TIA Andy Bell
