There now is a tested workflow to translate Déjà Vu files in CafeTran:

Workgroup edition is needed to export to XLIFF Mar 6, 2013

-> you can delete the word "probably", as exporting to XLIFF is a feature not included in the Professional edition (I've never understood why).
