Thank you all for your help!

I am using Trados 5.5 Freelance, MultiTermIX, and my question is:

How do I get Workbench to show terms in the terminology window (right side of WB), from a specific Termbase?

My client sent me a TM and a termbase, and the terminology window keeps showing me terms from another termbase (prior one). How can I retrieve the one my client sent me to match its TM?

Hope I made myself clear, and thanks again!

Rufino

Select the termbase Nov 26, 2003

Hi Rufino,
Have you selected the new termbase?
(Options - Term Recognition Options - Termbase location)

Thanks Ralf! Nov 26, 2003

I knew you were going to help me, Thanks Ralf!

I have indeed tried the steps you mention, but the termbase I want to use is not listed there, can you please tell me how to add such term in this list (Termbase location/ Select termbase)?

Cheers!

Rufino

Termbase details Nov 27, 2003

Hi again,
What exactly did your client send? Do you know which version of MultiTerm your client is using? (I don't need to know the filename - just the extensions will be interesting.)

Where did you save those files? Are they in the same folder as your local termbase?

Sorry, but I need to know a bit more before I can possibly suggest anything else.

Best, Ralf

More info Nov 27, 2003

Hi Ralf:

My client send me a Termbase, with all accessory files, he's using MultiTerm 5, and I saved all these files in a folder inside another folder where I keep all files related to this project. Regarding the extension, all I can see is that it's a Multiterm 5 termbase.

As per my local termbase.... I don't know where that is. (I am ashamed now).

Thanks again!

Rufino

Now we're getting to the root of the problem Nov 28, 2003

Hi Rufino,
I'm getting a better idea what your problem might be...you started out by:

...and now...
My client send me a Termbase, with all accessory files, he's using MultiTerm 5,

You cannot open a MT 5/5.5 termbase in MTiX - the data structures are completely different.

Two ways of handling this:
- If you also have MT5/5.5 installed on your machine, switch your term recognition options to work with that, and select the termbase.
- If MT5/5.5 is not installed, use MultiTerm Convert to create an import file that will allow you to build a MTiX database using your client's data.

HTH, Ralf

Thanks again Ralf Nov 28, 2003

Unfurtunately, I do not have Multiterm 5, but I am indeed able to open the termbase. I can see the terms, I just cannot see them in the terminology window in WorkBench...

I'll keep trying!

Have a nice weekend!

Rufino
