Hey there,

I was going to do a quick QA Check of some sdlxliff files with xBench, however instead of the russian text in the target Xbench only Shows question marks (???) instead of any text.

Any ideas on how to Change the character set or any other Settings?

System Locale? Jun 18, 2014

Have you tried changing the system locale to Russian?

Here is how to do it:

Which version of xBench are you using: the older 2.9 (free) or the newer 3.0 (commercial)? AFAIK, the free version is not Unicode compatible, while the newer one is.

xbench 2.9 Jun 19, 2014

As Dominique says, Xbench 2.9 is not Unicode. A workaround is to install and setup MS Applocale to avoid modifying regional settings and restart Windows.

The application is available at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13209. Install the app. If you are using Windows 7 or a later version, follow the instructions from http://users.wfu.edu/yipcw/atg/microsoft/applocale/. This web explains how to set up Xbench to display Russian characters.

However, you can try Xbench 3.0 for 30 (real) days for free. As the last version is Unicode, it will display correctly any language. Download is available at http://www.xbench.net/index.php/download.
