Hi everyone

I've recently bought TRADOS 7. What's the best way to convert my recently-translated xml file to pdf?

I look forward to your recommendations and thank you all in advance.

How do you want the XML layouted?! Nov 22, 2006

XML doesn't have a layout in itself, but is meant to be interpreted and layouted by a CMS or similar on the customer side.

So it all depends what you want to see?

I guess that you just want to see the actual source/target, and not the rest of the non-translatable tag content?

If you have Word 2003, try opening the XML there, and if necessary make a search/replace with wildcards to get rid of the tags.

After that, you'll need Acrobat or similar [insert your favourite PDF shareware here] to create a PDF of your view in Word.

XSL-FO Nov 22, 2006

I think the usual way is with XSL-FO:

Apache FOP is, I believe, an implementation of it:

Otherwise have a look at Microsoft's seed document creation ability. You may be able to create a Word document from your xml using it, which you could then convert to PDF.
