Hi all,

Did anyone dabble with the new XPS format yet?
My understanding is that it is a zipped folder with xml files: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XML_Paper_Specification#Technology

Theoretically, they could then be opened in Trados or other CAT tools with the correct .ini file.
But is there any tool today that supports this in practice

XPS is not a word processor format -- it is a printer format. And you'll see it too, when you open the XPS file... the paragraphs have hard returns in the middle of sentences, just like a PDF does. Translating it just like you'd translate any other XML document will take a bit of hacking (also, the coordinates for each line on the page is embedded in the code, and if your translation is much longer or shorter than the original, you'll break the format. I'm just guessing here.

You can download a short example XPS file here:
http://www.pclviewer.com/XPS/

There is an opensource PDF->XPS converter, but no binaries of it yet (source only, requires a recent version of Mono).

I read that Vista has a printer driver for XPS that can be used with any application... is this right?
