有些书非常想买，但好像必须经过信用卡认证以后才能下单，而像我这种非上班族申请信用卡又比较困难，不知有什么办法没有。我是Paypal认证账户，但认证是通过银行借记卡（非信用卡）进行的。国内有一些代购网站，但经过考察，不是太贵就是找不到想要的书，不可行。

Amazon doesn't have a "Buy Now" Paypal button. They aren't set up to automatically bill your Paypal account. BUT if you have a Paypal debit card, it's easy to use that as a accepted method of paying for your Amazon purchases. You use it just like any other debit or credit card, and the money comes directly out of your Paypal account. PLUS, by using the Paypal debit card this way, you will get a small bonus credit back from Paypal! I do this all the time so I know it will work.

Another thing to use it the virtual debit card from Paypal, which involves downloading a program and is used similar to a debit card. I downloaded this, but I had so many problems with my computer after doing so that I uninstalled it, and everything has been fine w/ my computer since.

No, Amazon does not take PayPal, but something you can think about is getting a PayPal Debit Card (with the MasterCard logo). I have a PayPal debit card and it has been very convenient. I can use it online for purchases like on any credit card (I believe you have to have funds in your account though). You could then use it at Amazon.

Here's another suggestion: try to get a debit card locally that has the VISA or MasterCard logo on it. Those kinds of cards should enable you to make purchases directly at Amazon.com.

I first had to get educated on what a "借记卡" was. It's actually what they call a "debit card" over here. All you need is a debit card that VISA or MasterCard recognizes in order to make a purchase from Amazon. It's also called a VISA/MasterCard Check Card.

I'm thinking you should be able to find a bank in Beijing where such debit cards are issued without being put through too much hassle. All that's required ought to be opening a checking account with the bank.

Another option is to purchase some Amazon.com gift cards. They come in various denominations, and work pretty much the same as debit cards.

You can easily find someone here who regularly sends money to China to help you out.

Hi Steve, I find this is a good idea for payment on Amazon. I'm looking into that and may ask someone who has an Amazon account to buy some for me. I'll pay him/her back via paypal. As for the debit card with Visa or MasterCard logo as you suggested, this is also a rather difficult option here, though not so difficult as getting a credit card. The bank requires you to have a certain amount of deposit, say at least USD5000 or RMB50,000, before considering your application.

There's one more caveat in Amazon's shipping policies that you ought to be aware of before going ahead. Make sure that the books you want to order do not have this restriction on them.

In the future, you can also request your compensation be in the form of Amazon.com gift certificates. It ought to be very little extra work for the agencies. IMO most of them would oblige.

Thanks for reminding. What I want to buy are only two or three old-print books, and I've noticed that some Amazon merchants also ship from Europe, e.g. Great Britain. As far as I know, books are generally not subject to custom duties when arriving here.
