丙. 有的提问者提问时不给足上下文,回答者有此要求或提出反问也不理睬。总之,几天后回来收获答案就是了。

Yongmei,

Good comment! I can totally relate to what you mentioned above. It is absolutely annoying.

Being rude is one thing. Being ignorant is another. The translators here demonstrated their enthusiasms in helping others with the translation-related questions. It is NOT too much to ask that each question asker should show his/her appreciation to the effort of the peers.

The annoying behaviors I observed are as follows:

1. Stay anonymous all the times. I can understand it if it is an embarrassing question, but their questions were not like that;

2. No full context provided, but makes the translators GUESS the possible meanings. Remember, it does not take any time to quote the full sentence in the source text where the words are from.

3. After translators offered their translation suggestions in good faith, there is NO grading, and No "thank you" note. Do not tell me you are too busy to do so. It is an ATTITUDE problem.

4. Select a translation suggestion without doing his/her own verification and analysis and making the inappropriate choices.

5. Only a few words in Profile, or simply left his/her Profile in blank.

6. Very frequent ProZ.com users, but just cannot afford the membership fee.

This is a place or site where translators can learn from each other through interactions. It is built and run by the support of the translators. To show your appreciation and respect to your peers is something that should be encouraged and promoted.

How to deel with the individuals who have the above-mentioned behaviors? Ignore their questions, and refuse to offer them your answers. That is how I handle it. I believe this is the best way to get the message crossed.

同意两位的意见。

个人觉得这里需要通过计算机系统设置一些硬性规定来防止这些不愉快的事情,比如如果提问者不登录,以匿名状态就不能提问,提问后不予答复或选择者,予以警告,多次警告后无效后可中断/终止其使用权限。当然他还可以再注册新的ID, 但至少可以有些作用。

On the one hand, it is definitely a good thing that people are asking questions instead of making up bad translations. On the other hand, they should really observe some basic etiquette.

非常赞同大家的意见。

我觉得,应该建议Proz.com 增加一条规定,注册者必须以付费 email address 来注册,这样可以防止经常改头换面的做法。
