做了多年国内翻译公司的客户,感觉自己在练“驾衣神功”
各位同仁,能推荐些找国外客户的方法吗?我想找到一手的客户

我刚做自由翻译的时候,也是从国内的客户做起,后来慢慢接触到国外的客户,但目前仍以国内的为主。对了,这里的客户,还只局限于翻译公司。

从我的体会看,在翻译论坛上发言,或是解答同行的问题,完善自己的Profile, 写博客,使用CAT工具等方式,都能显示出一名翻译的专业程度,也能因此吸引到客户。

但要找到合作愉快的长期客户,似乎运气也是一个方面,有时候急不来。

Certification helps, however, if you are in China, it's not very necessary. Certification costs usually much and we have to pay annual cotisation...

Take it easy and work hard as usual, things will get better and better. BTW, overseas clients are not always better than domestic ones... More and more consumers in US and Europe are seeking lower rates for linguistic services...at the same time, RMB is getting more and more expensive...Moreover, the most demands of linguistic services are in China

少则几个月,多则一两年,才能找到好客户。我记得英文论坛里有一个同事,在这里几个星期没找到活就打退堂鼓,向Proz要回了剩下的会员费,我的意见是至少要给自己半年的时间,了解行情,同时也学习与国际客户打交道。

如果你的个人简历做得好,客户会直接找你的。在这里工作栏里竞争工作机会极小极小。

我才来的时候还没成为会员,然后就运气好有人联系我任务,我就挣了差不多1k,人民币哈:),然后入会了。
这马上一年了,还算额外收入了一笔。不过没有国内我们有些同事的兼职来得多,他们虽然价格低,但是案源稳定。国外的都是些散货,如果能够找到长期的合作项目就好了。不过这是个积累的过程。

我08年交了129USD成为正式会员,兴奋了几个月,也算小有斩获,可惜我没有坚持下去,自从和LIOX建立合作关系后,PROZ就无暇顾及,最近听说会费降了不少,我又续费了。
PROZ是个好平台,管理规范,人员素质也比较高。只有付出才能有所斩获。突出自己的优势,经常发发简历,多回答问题,多在论坛发言,都是有帮助的。
保持平常心最重要啊。

It takes a lot of patience to really build up a good customer base, aside from professional work attitudes and good translation work.

As others had said it already, participating in various forums will help build up your network and allow prospective outsourcing companies to notice you.
