Dear all,

I need your advice again.

As there're no "subordinate" sentences (e.g. ...........that.........who.........with......... etc.) in the Chinese language. I always stumble over translating looooooooooong English sentence into Chinese.

How will you translate this, e.g.:
"We highly appreciate your estimation and credence given to our information products which you have been using on your sites for over a year on a free basis. "

Are there any websites that give an overview of rules of Chinese syntax?

Thank you.

Carol

Nope, I'm not here to offer a solution. My Chinese is not good enough..........icon_razz.gif I just want to say that I have the same problem with Chinese sentences. Sometimes they just go on and on and on and on................. you get commas all over the place and at times, you have absolutely no idea where the main point is! Irritating!! >(

Usually what I do in this kind of situation is to translate the sentence part by part, and then TRY to piece them together in the most L.O.G.I.C.A.L. way. I wouldn't attempt to cramp the entire sentence into one English sentence; I'd prefer to break them up into two or even three sentences.

Let's see what tips the Chinese native translators have....icon_smile.gif

Let me have a go at it:
  1)我们的信息产品,贵站已免费使用一年有余。非常感激您对我们产品的评估和信赖。
  2)贵站已免费使用我们的信息产品一年有余。您对它们的评估和信赖,我们非常感激。
  3)十分感激您对我们的信息产品的评估和信赖。贵站经已免费使用一年多(潜台词:该给钱了吧?)……

There could be more. But I am now too sleepy.
