When I type Chinese text, sometimes the lines break up for no apparent reasons. It seems that the lines always jump after an English word. Here is what I mean:

妈妈和 Auntie June 今天将到婆婆家。 (correct)

妈妈和 Auntie June
今天将到婆婆家。 (the problem)

Are there any settings in WORD I need to change to prevent this? HELP!!!

Hi Weiwei, Mar 1, 2005

Type the page as it is, then select all, copy+paste it in a new page. The problem should be solved.

I have often this problem, but not found a better way to figure it out.

Have a nice day

Also make sure there're no other hidden controller tags, Mar 1, 2005

by pressing Ctrl+Shift+8.

And you may also need to click Tools/Options/Chinese Formatting to edit those kinds of conflicting Chinese punctuation.

try my way Mar 1, 2005

1. press ctrl + A
2. press ctrl + d
3. select 宋体 (or any other chinese fonts) from the drop down list of the chinese font box
4. select times new roman (or anything else) from drop down list of the western font box.
5. click Ok.
the cause of this problem is that Word assumes all text are English text. you can help Word to recognize chinese text by setting fonts.

Use the same font for Chinese character and western word Mar 1, 2005

Select the western word in trouble, right click, select font卼hen in the dialogue box, choose the same font for both Chinese and English.

I have only French OS, so some words may differ.

你用的MSWord不是中文版的吧? Mar 1, 2005

我以前也有过同样的问题,后来发现,用中文版就没这个问题。
(我一般用楷体,不知道用宋体能否解决问题,不过宋体那么难看,打死我我也不用:-))
