Aug 7, 2007

Jianjun,

I can imagine the hustle and bustle of throngs of people enjoying a weekend get-together at a trendy coffee shop or ice cream parlor. It must be nice once in a while. As the old saying goes, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy".

A colleague of mine from 杭州 keeps telling me I should make a trip to China. She actually recommends buying a place over there; because according to her it's a lot more dynamic and exciting. Hmmm, for me it probably takes a lot more than that to make such a move. icon_biggrin.gif

Steve,

SUN, where do you live?”时,我就可以说“SUN city!”icon_biggrin.gifhttp://www.suncity.com/homefinder/Community.aspx?ID=100011

Yueyin,

You're absolutely right. I can see how expensive it's getting to be living in big cities in China these days. To sink money into expensive over-inflated real estate just doesn't make any economic sense to me. I think for people like us, it's much easier, not to mention more enjoyable, to maintain a comfortable living here in the U. S. icon_smile.gif

BTW, thanks for those metric and English conversion factors you provided.

That's very true. However, the quality of life is just as good, if not better, in smaller size cities and suburban areas. It's very different than the wide gap that may exist between the wealthier and more educated metropolitan areas compared to the poorer and more backwards rural areas in China. I imagine this discrepancy still remains to some extent, despite all the progress that's been made.

If someone wants to live where all the "action" is, or wants to do without the hassle of having to drive a car, or perhaps prefers to live close to a Chinatown, then there definitely is an advantage of living in a big city like New York City or Chicago.

Thanks Steven Aug 9, 2007
