Hello,

I've received some Power Point files to translate. Unfortunately, DVX is unable to import any of them. I get the "Import Errors" window with the message "Deja Vu was unable to import the following files:...". No further information. I can easily open the files with my PowerPoint. I can see no unusual content, just slides with pictures and text boxes.
I also made a test with a different ppt file I'd translated some time ago. I tried to import it into the current project and the result was the same. I cannot import ppt files at all!!
It is the first time that I experience a problem of that kind with DVX.
I would appreciate any suggestions on possible causes. Thank you in advance.

DVX Pro 7.5.303
Power Point 2003 with all updates and patches installed.

Chris

1/ Make sure the file is closed.

2/ How big is the file? You may need to cut a really big one in two.

Edited to add

and

3/ Make sure powerpoint is closed on your computer before trying to import. This can make a difference.

Eutychus,
1. Definitely closed.
2. Not bigger than 6 MB - quite small.

Filters are ok Mar 2, 2009

I checked it twice. I even tried with different filter settings — with/without processing notes or a master slide. And the result is still the sameicon_frown.gif
I also checked that the files are not write-protected.
I've been using DVX for 6 years now and it seems to me that I've ruled out all the "simple/obvious" causes. But, on the other hand, you never know...icon_smile.gif

How about:

- restart your computer
or
- save the PP file in an earlier version?

(Sometimes I give up pondering about any causes)icon_rolleyes.gif

Problem solved Mar 2, 2009

It seems that the project file got corrupted somehow.
I created a new project and everything went as it should have at the first try, without any problems.

Eutychus, Harry — thank you very much for your ideas and your time.

I nearly suggested this as a 3rd idea,
but it looked too dull to give it a try.. icon_lol.gif
