Hi everyone,
I have been using the trial version of Déjà-Vu, but I haven't managed to use the Alignment feature. The wizard starts importing the source and target files but it never completes the operation. No error messages are displayed.
Anyone the same problem?
Do you think it might depend on the trial version? Or on compatibility issues of some kind?

Thank you in advance.

Steps for aligning in DéjàVu Feb 25, 2008

Hi Marie,

Your trial version, unless the world has changed, should include all the features of DV.

However, it took me a while to figure out how to get into the alignment feature myself. Here's where to start:

1. Open DV
2. Click on "File" on the top bar, then on "new"
3. The window that appears will offer a variety of choices:
--Project
--Translation Memory
--Terminology Database
--SGML/XML Filter
--Alignment Workfile

4. Click on Alignment Workfile, then on OK. This will open the Wizard you need to create your alignment.

5. Click on "Select" and **create** (rather than selecting) your new alignment file. Save it to a folder where you can find it again. Click on Next

6. Click on the "...." for your source and target languages and select the file for each. Click on "Open" as you make each selection. Click on Next.

7. This will load both files to create your aligned file. When both have finished loading, click on Next.

8. Select your client and field. Click on Next.

9. Your files will appear side by side. Use the buttons at the bottom of each column to align the two files. Once you've finished, Click on Next

10. The Alignment Wizard will reappear. You can either save your alignments to an existing Translation Memory or create a new one. Click "Save," then Next.

11. In the final window, simply click "Finish" to send your alignment to the translation memory of your choice.

[12. If you want to create an external view with source and target language, go back to "New" and this time select "Project." Import your source language file, then simply assemble the translations from memory. It's really fast!
