Mvh Rikke C. Madsen, TheWordCollector

XML-files are essentially just text files Jun 8, 2015

Hi Rikke,

XML in itself really should not be a problem, the point is that you need a system that allows you to filter the XML-tags, so you can make use of repetitions and such. Something like OmegaT (http://www.omegat.org/en/omegat.html) might also work for you, that would be free and it should also work on macs. Metatexix may work as well, I have actually not worked with that before, though. The problem may just be that you may have to filter tags manually, but because XML basically is a text file (as HTML for example), you can use almost anything. Many programs do have an XML-filter, so you could just try it and see if the program of your choice filters all tags as you'd want to. To have a look at the XML, just open it with any editor program!

Hope that helps,
Sarah

Wordfast Pro for Mac is a good option... Jun 9, 2015

Hej Rikke

Mette

OmegaT will do this job – for free Jun 9, 2015

I've used OmegaT for six years. Along with ProZ.com, it is a cornerstone of my business.

Most of what I do is legal translation. However, I've also translated portions of the website for Norsk Odontologisk Søvnmedisinforening in XML format. OmegaT handled this project quite easily:
http://www.nosmed.no/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=79&Itemid=229&lang=en
(You may have to look for the Union Jack symbol for a link to the English pages.) It helped to have a web designer on the other end who is far more proficient in such matters than I could ever be.

More details about my experience with OmegaT are in my article "Unparalleled success as a translator – with a Macintosh", which appears on the blog of the ATA Nordic Division at http://wp.me/psApQ-5b

The OmegaT user manual is at http://www.omegat.org/ There is no Danish version, but either the English or Swedish ones will be helpful in your case, I suppose.

There is also an extremely helpful OmegaT forum on Yahoo at https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/OmegaT/conversations/topics
