At last, Alexandre DUMAS, the gandson of Césette Dumas, the Haitian slave woman, was honored by President Chirac, last Saturday.

Then there\'s Mrs. Josephine Bonaparte who wasn\'t plain vanilla either.

Well, if I may add a comment, I would say that contrary to a host of French or other nationals, the Dumas have always ASSUMED their biracial heritage, and have even proudly flaunted it in an era when such atti... See more

Well, if I may add a comment, I would say that contrary to a host of French or other nationals, the Dumas have always ASSUMED their biracial heritage, and have even proudly flaunted it in an era when such attitude has cost them in reputation and otherwise.



Alexandre Dumas, Sr. by adopting the maiden name of his slave mother (Dumas) acted in such an heroic and sublime manner that I can\'t help admiring him!

That\'s why I am doubly embracing these colossal men both for their accomplishments and their moral character.

And doubly PROUD of them TOO!!.

Elle était née Marie-Joseph Rose de la Pagerie, d\'une famille propriétaire d\'une plantation de 500 hectares à La petite Guinée près des Trois Ilets.
