This thread is part of the Translator playground: a place for translators to have fun, to network, to learn, and to hone their translation or linguistic skills. See the announcement here.

Need a quick break from work? In this forum translators and language professionals can share pictures of found mistranslations, comics, images representing translation, etc.

All are welcome to participate and to add new items to this and the other areas of the Translator playground; have fun with it! If you need help or would like to propose an addition to the Translator playground, contact site staff through the online support system.

Hi! I have mixed feelings about my recent work of art (not sure if I should be too proud of my drawing skills ). I've come up with a "funny" comic (drawing and captions included). Before I show you the final piece of "artwork" I'd like to propose a challenge: would you like to suggest a text for what the two characters in this comic are saying? The only clue I can give you is that one is a translator.

Propose funny texts that may go in the speech bubbles and later I'll show you the original version.

I would have them as thought bubbles...

Person to the left: "Flopping? That's a novel reaction to the rate I offered."

Translator: "If only there were someone to call a foul..."

Client (standing): And I want the job back yesterday.
Translator (grovelling): Of course, sir. Which of your boots shall I lick first?

Person standing: Are you hurt? Can I help you up?
Translator: No, I am fine. I am working. I am simply exploring what it means "to be flat on your face".
