Hey Guys!
I would like to know how would you pronounce this word in English, especially if you are a native speaker of English.
The word is "UZUM". It does not exist, I made it up to name something.
I would also appreciate your telling me what it sounds like, what it suggests to you or any thoughts that this word may bring up.
Also if it means something rude or weird in any of your languages I would appreciate your telling me.

Thanks for your help and enjoy the weekend!!!

I'd pronounce it "oo-zum", only with deeper sounds that are more German than English (my native tongue is English). It makes me think of Husum in Germany, where Theodor Storm was born and raised.

Although you realise it doesn't resemble a natural English word? So, it's quite hard to say what it might suggest...
With the flexibility of English it could be almost anything:

Noun: He gave me three uzums.
Verb: I uzumed a lot last night.

...

Also,...

Üzüm....is Turkish for "grape".

I would pronounce it phonetically exactly as it is written: uzum. Or if you want exactly same pronunciation in non-phonetic British English: oo-zoom. I don't associate anything with it. It could be a brand name for an imaginary detergent.

I wouldn't use 'em Jul 20, 2012

I would probably pronounce it to rhyme with bosom, but I must say I find it an annoying little word - probably because it doesn't know how it wants to behave in my mouth - and would be reluctant to wear, eat or ride one of these things.

Interesting. When I google UZUM, I receive 7.6 million results.

To rhyme with "bosom"... with the "zee" sound rather than the "s" in Husum.
It reminds me of the great Egyptian singer/songwriter/actress Umm Kalzum, whose name is variously transcribed as Oum Kalsoum, Om Kalsoum, Om Kolthoum, Om Kolthum, Oum Kalthoum, Umm Kulthum...

My definitive pronunciation would depend on the context. The "Uz-" to me suggests Uzi (the gun) or Uzbek (the -istan), both with the buzzy zee... and it wouldn't occur to me to use the Thpanish lithping "theta" thound (a la Violet Elizabeth Bott) unless the word arose in a Spanish context.

Sorry for being OT, but what's that "Husum" with an unvoiced s?
