Your client might provide you with a FTP address for down- or uploading translation files. Somtimes accessing those sites is difficult. In such cases the normal Explorer might work better.
Download:
1) open the Explorer
2) create a target folder and be sure the navigation part left in your Explorere shows it
3) go to the address bar and right-click the first word
4) choose 'Edit address"
5) paste the address provided in the e-mail
6) drag the file to the target folder

Uploading goes the same way, left alone you already have a source folder and the transport is in opposite direction:
1) open the Explorer
2) be sure the navigation part left in your Explorere shows the source map
3) go to the address bar and right-click the first word
4) choose 'Edit address"
5) paste the address provided in the e-mail
6) drag the file from the source folder to the target folder on the client's FTP site

The Explorer nearly always works for this purpose (if the Internet Explorer doesn't)
and ... works much easier, in my opinion. I always prefer this method.

Next to drag and drop, copy and paste also works.

Or, use an FTP program such as FileZilla. The problem with your solution is that you have to allow Windows Explorer access to the internet (and the other way round), which isn't the most secure thing you can do with your computer.
