When opening OE6.0 it takes ages to open it.
Does anybody has any idea why?

One of the options Dec 2, 2003

Try deleting unnecessary messages from your Inbox and Sent Items folders. It helped me once with same problem.

Remove big messages Dec 3, 2003

Hi !

I agree with Nenija - try to remove messages, specialy that ones, which have big attachments - Zips, pictures, PDF-s. Then delete all messages in Deleted Items folder. It seems that just removing messages to other folders does not help - only permanent deletition works.

Make a new folder Dec 3, 2003

You can move the content of OE to another folder, away from the Windows folder, than close OE, got to the directory where the new folder is, create another empty folder, change the name of the old folder, give the new folder the original name of the old folder and open OE again. All messages are gone, but you can allways look at old messages by switching the names of the folders back.
But you should have done this befor OE became slow.

The proper maintenance action is archiving.

Take all old messages. (of course delete unecessary stuff, if you have time for that). Move them to a new folder you call "old".

Then go to File/Folder, and select "Compact". If that's not enough, you can move the folder outside of Outlook's folder directory. That way, you can keep all your current messages in your inbox and other folders.
