Dear colleagues,

I have a big problem with an INX (InDesign) file that just won't save as a target file in any of my versions of SDL software (including the very software I used to translate it).

I am done translating the file (100 pages) and there is just no way to save the translated file. The client needs this tomorrow morning and I don't have time left to reinstall, tweak Java updates and, sincerely, at this point, I am not willing to compromise whatever functionality is still working under these critical conditions.

Therefore, please don't ask any technical questions and try to solve my software problems. Right now, I just want to get a translated INX file so I can wrap up my project. I will post here again once I do have the file I desperately need and I will look into the software problem later and post so that others who run into this problem can use that to fix it.

I have the original English INX file and a TMX memory to apply to it. All I need is a benevolent colleague who can simply load the INX file into whatever CAT tool they use, apply the TMX translation memory and save the target (translated) file back to INX.

Thanks in advance for any help!

P.S.: In case you are wondering, yes, this has a lot to do with that nagging java.lang.NullPointerException bug.

Hi Viktoria,

If you work with InDesign files on a regular basis and are looking for a more efficient solution I can recommend XTM Cloud as an option. It processes .inx and .idml files with no problem at all. Upload an InDesign file and then download a translated InDesign file.

You can try it out here www.xtm-intl.com/trial . You will be able to upload the .TMX and then the .INX and get the target file. Or if you have already solved that problem please feel free to try it out anyhow on InDesign and other formats like Framemaker.

All the best,
Elliot
