I'm using a tryout version of FrameMaker 7.1 to translate English into Russian. To do so I replace English words with Russian. A body text can be changed easily but when it comes to the paragraph names/tags (see example below) you can't do anything with them. They appear to be locked. For instance, it would look like this and only "x"s are editable.
Task ID: XXX
Referene: XXX
Revision: XXX

Do you know what can be done to edit tags? Please share your experience working with FM.
Thank you
Anna

Paragraph Designer Dec 27, 2004

Hello Laura,

The text that you are unable to edit has probably been entered in the "auto numbering" field of the paragraph style. To access it, place the cursor in the paragraph and type CTRL-M. The paragraph designer has 6 tabs; the information you are looking for is on the "Numbering" tab. On this tab, under the text "Autonumber format" is a bar containing the text you were unable to edit. One you have changed the text, click the button "Update all". The text will now be changed in all of the paragraphs with this style. If you are working on a "BOOK" composed of multiple chapters in separate files, you will have to change this in each file.

Be careful not to change any of the variables in the auto numbering text. The "building blocks" each have a particular function, such as "\b" which adds a bullet or "n+" which adds incremental numbering.

Good luck!
