Help! Word stops for a loong time "autorecovery" Thread poster: Maria San Martin

Dear all, I am facing a problem with Word. It is a word document with a lot of images and text within text boxes. All of a sudden, word stops to "save" the contents, but it takes ages to save!! Down on the Windows frame it states: "Windows is preparing to save the information of autorecovery for Filename". Has anybody encountered this problem and know how to solve it? Thanks a lott! | | | Ford Prefect Burkina Faso Local time: 22:08 German to English + ...
You can turn off autorecovery. If you are very sure of the stability of your hardware, software, and electricity supply... | | | mediamatrix (X) Local time: 19:08 Spanish to English + ... Perhaps split the document ... | Mar 28, 2006 |
If the 'heavy' pages with illustrations are grouped together in the document, you could split the document into a 'text' file and an 'illustrations' file. At least while you're working on the text section, you will not waste time re-saving the illustrations unnecessarily. Y muchas gracias por el "tip" | | | mediamatrix (X) Local time: 19:08 Spanish to English + ... How? - like this ... | Mar 28, 2006 |
The safest way is, first, to save the document. Then re-open it, Save As ..... with a different filename, and then select and cut the illustrations from this copy, which is then the 'text only' part. Re-open the first file again (the complete document), Save As again, with yet another filename, and this time cut out the text. This will be the 'illustrations only' part. When you need to stick it all back together again, the safest way is to open a new empty document, then do insert - file fore each part in turn (and in the right order). This way, you always have back-up copies of each stage of the process, in case anything goes wrong ... HTH ▲ Collapse | |
