For no apparent reason, I'm no longer receiving mail via Thunderbird. When I try to send mail, I get "...connecting to SMTP server failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing smtp connections. Please check your STP settting is correct or contact your network administrator.

The settings seem "normal" (I havent altered anything recently), the only thing new I have done was download bittorrent & emule last night and then remove them coz they weren't working properly

By the way, my av is Kazpersky Internet Security 6. I've run that and Spybot and AdAware and all seems ok

Also, I can still receive and send mail via Horde using the webmail link from My hosting with no problem

Problems with Thunderbird May 4, 2007

Hello Willliam,

I don't know if this is just a coincidence but I've noticed some strange things with Thunderbird 2.0 this morning.

First, I found two messages with a missing or different body; that is, if I use the browser to read my emails, the correct body is showing, but with Thunderbird, the same email has a one line text about the attachment and the rest of the body is gone.

Also, one email I sent out and is in the Sent folder was never actually sent. And this morning, a client emailed me because he never received an email that I sent two days ago.

I thought all those problems were unrelated but I was surprised by your post.
