Ephraim Kishon, the Israeli author, writes in Hebrew language. His books get tranaslated in many languages. Till his death in the late seventies, the German translator Friedrich Thorberg used to translate Kishon's books from the English translation into German.

Yet Kishon likes the German translation the most. He used to say that the German translations are as if he himself had written them originally in German. By the way Kishon himself writes German with near native quality. So much so that after Thorberg's death Kishon himself takes part in the German translation.
