Dear Greek colleagues,

It is impossible to stay indifferent looking at the heartbreaking images we daily get from Greece.
I deeply empathize with all victims of the infernal forest fires and would like to give a modest contribution to some small scale initiative aiming to offer any support to the victims.

Could you please help me get in touch with such a foundation, organization or civil initiative?

I wish you all a lot of courage in these tragic days and hope that the rest of your beautiful and unique country will be spared of further material and above all human losses.

With all my heart,

Sherefedin MUSTAFA

How to support the victims of forest fires in Greece? Aug 29, 2007

Hello, Sherefedin and Mihail.

We must all thank you so much for all your kind words.

For information on various bank accounts opened, you can call 0030.210.607.50.11 - this is a special service of the national television (ERT) where they can provide further details.

If there is a branch of the National Bank of Greece nearby, you can also use the account: [IBAN] GR980100023000000, which was opened by the Greek government.

Alternatively, you can always contribute to MSF-Greece (http://www.msf.gr/) who are already in Peloponnese, helping the victims of the fires.

Thanks once more.

Vicky
