Hi,
I've been facing this issue with my laptop ever since I bought it. It's a new Compaq nx 6120 laptop and less than 6 months old. All of a sudden the laptop screen goes blank all I can see is a white screen.
The first time I had this problem I was told to reboot the system and it worked. But as I continued to have this problem (eg. once in 10 -15 days) I took the laptop to the HP Dealer. And of course, it worked fine in front of him ... See more Hi,

But I'm worried it's new and I don't know the reason behind this problem. I use the same softwares that I used with my desktop and I had no problem there. I rarely run it on battery as I have a good inverter for back-up.
Has anyone else faced this problem with laptop? How was it resolved?

Hi have an nx-6110, and this used to irritate me too, until I worked out it's to do with the sleep/hibernation settings:
Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance / Power Options / Here, set the tabs according to your preferences, but I'd recommend removing any check from the Hibernate box.
In my case, it was enough to click the On/Off button once to get it back to life.

Thanks for your response.
From what I know, a laptop/ computer goes to sleep / hibernates when it's not in use but my screen goes blank while I'm working!!!
And the screen is not black blank but white...
Yes, it starts working again as usual once I switch it off and then on again. But what scares me is the possibility that there might be some technical reason behind this unusual behaviour.
Any more ideas?

A similar thing happened to me just today: the screen of my laptop (Compaq Presario 2100) went blank and I'm afraid it's for good It's an old thing: over 4 years old, but I got used to it and kind of hoped it would be with me for ever.
When I connect it to a computer monitor, it's working fine, so the problem must be with the laptop screen. I'm having a specialist come check it out tomorrow. But since it's so old, I guess i... Hello. A 6-month old laptop should still be under warranty (free support), would it be possible for you to contact HP support before trying anything that might void your hardware warranty? HP should have a service level agreement that will respond to your request within its specifiied time frame. Good luck.

As its still new I think I'll take it to the service centre rather than meddle with it on my own Contacted the service centre yesterday and they've advised me the same. Though they asked me to install something called biomos or whatever which they sent through their online support window.
