Brooklyn, NY - June 19, 2008 - Eriksen Translations received the Access NYC Award at the Women Presidents' Educational Organization's (WPEO) Breakthrough Breakfast at The Pierre Hotel on June 6th. The award is an acknowledgement of the volume and range of language services Eriksen provides to the City of New York as gauged by the Third Annual Done Deals™ Challenge. The competition measures the number of contracts reported in the last year between a certified woman's business enterprise (WBE) and WPEO corporate sponsors, City and State agencies, or other certified WBEs. This is the third year Eriksen has been recognized in this Challenge.
"We are grateful to be acknowledged by the WPEO for the work we do. New York City offers an astounding array of services for its citizens and we are proud to help City agencies communicate with the many multilingual communities that prosper here," said Vigdis Eriksen, president and CEO of Eriksen. "While City agencies are only a portion of our client pool, the breadth of subject matter expertise and services we provide, from subway ads, websites, and forms for health programs to parent guides and letters for City schools, is a welcome challenge that reminds us of how exciting translation and localization can be."

Of the over 3,500 Done Deals™ reported in the New York area competition this year, Eriksen submitted over 1,200 completed transactions with clients such as the City of New York, Fortune 100 companies, and other WBEs, including major organizations in the financial, insurance, and pharmaceutical sectors. The range of services Eriksen provides these clients includes translation, editing, typesetting, Web localization, and copywriting.

"We are proud that in 2008, the WPEO family has doubled the number of Done Deals reported within the specified timeframe. This unprecedented increase is yet additional validation that the WPEO programs readily work and that Fortune 1000 companies are opening their doors to more and more women-owned companies," said Marsha Firestone Ph.D., president and founder of the WPEO.
