Yesterday law makers voted and passed a confusing amendment that would send 100% of interpreter appointments to phone and video... this means possibly out of state and to other countries. Yesterday law makers voted and passed a confusing amendment that would send 100% of interpreter appointments to phone and video... this means possibly out of state and to other countries. There is no funding for face-to-face interpreting as of March 1. We must act now to protect our jobs, protect patients, restore funding and save interpreter services.

What can you do?

1. CALL 800.562.6000 right now and tell both your 2 Representatives and your Senator this:

"Restore funding for interpreter services AND change the misleading House amendment that would privatize interpreter jobs and fund only phone and video interpreting. We must protect patient safety and keep jobs in Washington state!"

The full House could vote as early as 10 AM Fri. 1/21/2011 on the supplemental budget, including funding interpreter services for remote interpretation only. You must call 800.562.6000 today!

2. A personal email to both your Representatives and Senator could be very helpful. If you do not know who your legislators are click HERE to get their names and e-mails.

3. Come to Olympia in the next 10 days. We will make appointments for you with your legislators. Email [email protected] to set up an appointment.
