I found this last night:

"Many people feel anxious about giving a formal talk or presentation in public. Christine Stuart in her book, 'Effective Speaking' cites a survey in the USA where 3,000 adults were asked to list their ten worst fears. Speaking in Public came out as the number one fear - above even fears of financial ruin and death!"

In one of the show's opening monologues, Jerry Seinfeld mentions this poll and quips:

"That would mean at a funeral, people are five times more likely to want to be in the casket than giving the eulogy."

This is why I choose to be a translator.

Very interesting article Javier. As politician's favourite occupation is to speak in public, I assume they dread nothing except death. The second main politicians occupation is therefore to avoid death by all means...
