I would like to ask. How can I become qualified interpreter/community interpreter or police interpreter, what I need to do or where to start?
Thank you.
With regards.

The pay's more than likely to be poor, while the training to become good and efficient in public-service interpreting may be expensive and time-consuming. Here's the website of an established one, perhaps you could find some clues there: http://wantwords.co.uk/martastelmaszak/ (except she has business and marketing/copywriting qualifications, so she's better off economically than someone specialising exclusively in criminal matters for courts and the law enforcement).

Get qualifications Mar 19, 2014

In order to become a qualified interpreter you must get qualificationsicon_smile.gif
Contact Chartered Institute of Linguists. The most obvious qualifications to get would be DPSI or Diploma in Police Interpreting (previously MET Police Test).
Just bear in mind that the rates in public service interpreting will not match the rates given in the blatantly advertising link above.
