Hello there I'm from Indonesia, I'm about to enroll to an interpreting course in september. I'm wondering if i could apply to some interpreting agencies, companies, or even start my own interpreting services after i finished my course (Indonesian English).

Also i'm just 21 years old with no experience. anyone can suggest some ideas? because i hadn't found the local forums that touch upon the interpreting topics, most of them are only translations.

Getting into interpreting in Indonesia Jul 7, 2015

Hi,

It takes time to build experience in interpreting. Your interpreting course is a good start. You should also get into the Indonesian interpreting & translation community - Himpunan Penerjemah Indonesia (http://www.hpi.or.id/) and the Bahtera e-group (groups.yahoo.com/group/bahtera) both have many interpreters in different language pairs. Your lecturers should be able point you in the right direction too.

Bashir
