Hello!

I have to write a paper and give a presentation on interpreting and for some reason I decided I would like to look into escort interpreting. I haven't found much in the way of theory/guidlines (are there any?) so I don't really know how to structure my presentation.

Could you give me some hints? Or even better, could you share some of your experiences in this particular field? What are *your* guidelines? What do you consider to be the most challenging aspect of escort interpreting?

Thanks!

Details, Please re escort / interpreting (include liaising/facilitating) Mar 27, 2005

Greetings.

Please contact me directlyat [ mutarjm@aol.com ] to discuss your research project.

I have done numerous assignments as an escort/interpreter (EI) on behalf of the US Governemnt and some corporate clients which hosted Arabic-speaking delegations, teams and VIP groups.

An esteemed colleague and fellow poster in < proz.com >, Fuad Yahya might also contrbute his insights as EI from the settings of international healthcare and "medical tourism."

There are some distinctive techniques and considerations in the business of being an effective and flexible escort/interpreter, including doing ancillary liaison, security/media exposure, and other facilitating/trouble-shooting, especially when travelling as EI with a group during a multi-stop itinerary around the US.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
