Ichiro Suzuki hits an inside-the-park home run at the 2007 All Star Game!

For those of you unfamiliar with baseball, this is the most difficult hit possible and is extremely rare. To do it at the All Star Game is insanely unbelievable. This was the first time ever.

Ichiro is interviewed in front of millions after the game, who couldn't understand a word he was saying, ergo the interpreter in back of him. Does anyone know the lucky guy who gets to do the intepreting?

Here is wher you can see the interpreter in action - it's the second video with the caption "Ichiro named MVP":

Lord, have mercy on that interpreter! Jul 11, 2007

I had a chance to experience a small dose of the ordeal. Previous ISS Expedition crew commander, Mike Lopez-Alegria, is a huge fan of baseball and whenever he had a spare moment he talked to the ground specialists, who happened to be baseball lovers too, about recent games games, topping it with some fan jokes, recollections, names or like. I was going totally nuts. I hate baseball! Never in my life did I bother to learn a single term before! Some crash course didn't help one bit. Most of the time I didn't understand a word:-( and felt a tremendous relief when the conversation was back to normal, easy subjects - load analysis, onboard computers, attitude control, power or thermal issues etc:-). Thank God Russian mission control room was not particulary interested neither in that interpretation nor in baseball in general:-).

Oh, my God. Now the new crewmember Clay Anderson is playing with the base ball as we speak... they are getting ready for the next PAO. How naive to believe that you can hide from baseball in the US:-)

That was really fun to have read the article, one thing I could not understand though:

"When I got on an airplane, I had to go up the steps," he said. "Guys gave me a hard time.

What is it to it? what's wrong with that? I mean...?
