Cari colleghi,

Ciao

Moneybookers.com

There have been numerous questions about this relatively new service on various lists. So, last night, I finally found the time to test it myself.

I will not bore you with too many details, but suffice it to say that PayPal is still No. 1 in all respects.

Here's a quick summary of Moneybookers:

1.. It is not available everywhere (its reach is even smaller than that of PayPal).
2.. They want you to supply them with all the "tools" they need to commit fraud: in order to add a credit card to your account, you have to provide them with copies (or, as they put it, preferably scans!!!) of a valid photo ID, the front and back of your credit card and a SIGNED credit-card statement. Sorry, but anyone who thinks that Moneybookers is a legit business should have their brain examined.
3.. Having clients pay by credit card through your website: now, this works extremely well with PayPal. In Moneybookers' case, it is the client that pays all the fees (good luck convincing any clients to use that method of payment) and the payer has to provide his/her cell phone number, so that Moneybookers can verify the transaction details. What if your client does not have a cell phone or what if the phone is off (battery down, etc.)?

In short, a highly dubious outfit with even more dubious practices. I'd stay away if I were you.

Paola,

è davvero FREE come dicono?

Stefano
