Hello everybody out there!

I don't know if what it happens to me is because of my settings/my PC or it is a matter of configuration of the site.

Let's say I ask for the suggested translations of a very common english word into spanish. Language pair does not matter at all (I have english to "any target language" as setting). At the first page I get, at the answers, following columns: (from left to right)

1. A little cross to open the translation.

2. "Languages". So it appears something like: English to French for the first result; English to Panjabi for the second; English to Russian for the third; English to Spanish for the forth;...

3. "Field". Either medical, art/litarary, Tech/Engineering,...

4. "Term" -> Translation where I get the suggested options.

5. The name of the person who added the term at the glossary.

But as the asked word has over 100 answers, I get several pages to look at.
So now I have checked the translations at page one and go to page number two. And all of a sudden I realize that column number 2, "languages" dissapeared. It does not exist on page 2! And whatever I do, I do not get it. The only possibility to see it is going again to page 1.

I hope it is clear what I mean...

Thus my questions are:

Is this a "fault" of my PC or does it happen to everyone here?
And if I am not the only one, is that made on purpouse by the proz-Team?
Of course: If I am the only one having that problem, how can I solve it?

I thank you very much in advance for your help!

My best wishes,
Helena

PS. The word I now used to explain that is "heart".
(And BTW can the sentence "I love you with all my heart" be technical in chinese???) ;o)) ;o))

What are you speaking about... icon_confused.gif ? If you are speaking about the ProZ glossaries, I was unable to reproduce this behaviour with my own glossaries. However, at the glossary creation page, I have seen that language fields are not mandatory.

Is it possible that authors may have left the glossary language field blank when adding other terms in another go?

Hello Pablo,

first of all, thank you for your kind answer.

Well, no, I am not talking about anybody's glosary, but about kudoz-answers.

Please try to follow this:
Go to "Terminology" > "Term search" (brown tab on top of the page)

Andset following settings, please:

"Enter term or phrase": Heart
"English" -> "Any target language"

And click on "Search"

There you get 628 results and 10 pages showing them.

Under the headline "KudoZ open glossary results", there are five columns, as I described in my prior article.

If you click on page 2, the second column, called "languages" disapear. As a result, you've only got 4 columns.

Why? Is it like this for everyone or just on my PC?
If this is only like this on my own PC, what can I do to change it and get the "languages"-column on the 2nd., third, etc... pages?

If this is that way on everybody's PC has this been made on porpouse or is just a mistake?

Well I hope now it is clear what I mean!

Thank you very much, Pablo, for your time, your help and your answer!

"Un abrazo" ;o))
Helena

Yes, it is incorrect behavior, not your fault Sep 16, 2010

I confirmed the same incorrect behavior.
When you go to the second page, the Language column disappears, and it does not come back even if you go back to the first page, or reload the page. The only way to display it again is to click the Search button again.
This only happens with the KudoZ Archive listings on the search result page.
I suggest you to submit a support request.

Katalin

Ooops, I saw it just now. It is probably a SQL filter programming error. Nothing we can do, except to send a support ticket informing ProZ staff as Katalin has stated in the post before. And now go to sleep, or the sandman will come...icon_biggrin.gif

Katalin and Pablo, thank you very much for your answers! Sep 17, 2010

Katalin and Pablo,

I thank you both very much for confirming that you also get the same error. Now I know it is not a problem in my PC, but on the site.

I will send a support request now.

Many thanks and best wishes,
Helena

PS.: @ Pablo: Do not worry about "sandman": We both are very good friends by now!icon_wink.gif
