Earlier, we had the squash button and the professionals having 500 or more points had the power to remove the unprofessional questions. But this practice has been dispensed with and we no longer have this facility.

Unfortunately, a number of personal and long texts have been posted as KudoZ questions in Hindi to English combination. I am giving hereinbelow the URLs of some of these unwanted questions for ready reference:

http://www.proz.com/kudoz/1114890

http://www.proz.com/kudoz/1113371?rifle_url=1113371,1114890

http://www.proz.com/kudoz/1113366?rifle_url=1113366,1113371,1114890

http://www.proz.com/kudoz/1113253?rifle_url=1113253,1113366,1113371

http://www.proz.com/kudoz/1113183?rifle_url=1113183,1113253,1113366

It appears that the practice of squashing the questions was discontinued as this facility might have been misused.

Of course, such type of questions can be squashed by Moderator but we don't have any Moderator for English to Hindi and vice versa combinations.

In view of the position explained above, it will be desirable if the squash button is introduced again so as to enable us to get rid of such type of stuff.

The practice was not "discontinued". Questions can still be squashed but, instead of giving the privilege to all members who reached 500 Kudoz points automatically, now the member has to request to have the squashing capability. The process involves reading about the situations where it is considered correct/incorrect to squash a question, and passing a brief test. Maybe a moderator can elaborate of this further.

Thanks for the update Aug 12, 2005

I'd appreciate if someone could explain the detailed procedure and requirements for getting this privilege.

Same here... Aug 12, 2005

I used to be able to do this favor for any asker who posted the same question more than once (by mistake). Now I cannot find the "squash" button.
