and find 'all' peer agreements going with another answer, what do you do?

1- You hide your answer
2- You feel ashamed
3- You keep your answer
4- You swear never to answer a Kudoz question again!
5- "Why have I answered that question"!

6. I check my sources and double check if my initial suggestion is really flawed or not, then I support it only if I am honestly convinced it is correct and useful, otherwise I support a better answer.

I never did 1. 2. 3. 4. and 5.

Another possible option Jul 10, 2006

6) It depends.

My general approach to this life is `it depends'. I hate to generalize, or, rather, I do it on some occassions with `this particular case' always in mind.

So in this questionnaire, I would say "It may depend" - I happened to select every of the first 4 options proposed before, and I will, most probably, do it in the future.

But I can't remember I've ever done the option 5).

Sure, Gianfranco
We all check our sources again. But I mean if after doing all these, you find peer agreement to go the other way with another translator. What I meant is understanding the term ... your approach and that of the other peer(s). I meant after doing all what you did (and what is expected to be done), then finding out that you have misunderstood the whole matter.
It is like saying to yourself: "What's wrong with me? Have I lost my abilities to translate?"

You know you have given me a hint of a new choice.

Good topic for the polls! Jul 10, 2006

Why don't you suggest a poll? It is a very good topic indeed.
BTW, no 1-5 for me. Well, some time, perhaps...I felt sort of embarrassed.

poll Jul 10, 2006

I double check, just in case, and if I am sure MY answer is correct, I keep it (is that 3?)

I suggest you place a poll on this. It might me interesting, I believe. Be careful how you word it, though.

sorry, this is my first time here, and I thought that my topic, being posted here will be a suggestion of a poll.

Could you tell me how?

May be I should have checked the rules first.

It depends is a life-long slogan as you said, my colleague.

Me too, I don't blacklist for these reasons.

My approach to KudoZ Jul 10, 2006

I try to contribute to making the Kudoz system as useful as possible to pros, by applying the following principles, except in "borderline" cases:

1. If (IMO) a non-pro questions is posted as pro, it gets a "non-pro vote" (and the other way round).

2. If (IMO) there is not enough context, and this happens too often, I ask asker for more info before answering.

3. I do not post an answer if (IMO) there is already a good one, (and I give it an agree).

2. If someone posts after me an answer (IMO) clearly better than mine, I supoport it and immediately hide my answer.

3. If an asker (IMO) selects a clearly worse or outright wrong answer, I leave mine since it may be useful for someone in the future) AND blacklist asker.

4. Answerers who (IMO) systematically just shoot from the hip, or give clearly wrong answers get a disagree and are also blacklisted.

Happy KudoZ !

Hey, what happened to the first message, the one that ME started this thread? It has vanished. It is starting now with Giancarlo answering a message that doesn`t exist.

Hey ME, did you delete your message?

The thread doesn`t make sense now, folks!

Sorry guys. It seems that I have done something wrong.

I have changed the title to be Poll:... instead of Kudoz:...

May be this is of a violation to a rule that I don't know!!

May anyone tell me what is going on?!

How approval of edited messages works... Jul 10, 2006

Anytime a message is edited, it has to be vetted again. ME's message has now been approved 4 times! This is to make sure any additions/changes to messages don't stray off topic.

I have seen this in other forums. But I want to ask about this post. I have typed it first on the Poll forum and I found it here!

So I realized that something wrong have been made.

But now I can't repost it there, as it is banned by the site.

How can I overcome this???

Hi Jul 10, 2006

This thread has been moved to the KudoZ forum by a moderator because it concerns KudoZ questions.

What about the "fourth time": please note that sometimes there is no moderator around

BTW, what about suggesting a poll? It could be interesting!

Cheers,
Natalia
