The International Terminology Summer School (TSS 2010) will take place at the University of Vienna, from 24 to 28 May 2010, jointly organized by TermNet, the International Network for Terminology, and the Center for Translation Studies.

TSS is a practice-oriented one-week training course on terminology management. TSS is intended for practitioners, students, scientists who are looking for a comprehensive, state-of-the-art introduction to terminology theory and practice.

Students receive 6 ECTS for their participation.

TSS 2010 will cover the following topics:

Terminology work
• Theory: Models, Objects, Concepts, Terms
• Applied Principles of Terminology Work
• Retrieving and validating relevant online information for terminology work

Data Modelling, TMS, Databases
• Data Categories for Terminology Management
• A closer look at Terminology Management Systems
• Creating a database for terminology work
• From Terminologies to Ontologies

Terminology Project Management
• Project Management for Translators, Terminologists
• Copyright Issues for Terminology Management
• Standards and Quality Assurance

Case Studies
• Terminology and Software Localization
• Terminology and Technical Documentation
• Economic Issues of Terminology Management

The registration for TSS 2010 also entitles participants to attend, free of charge, the UNSA Workshop on “The UN, Diversity and Global Understanding“, 31 May - 2 June 2010.
