Also, we could get a good price if we are a group. An option to register with accommodation included would be great! Will register as soon as I get my new Visa card, I lost it a few days ago:-( A great idea anyway! Patricia ▲ Collapse

Patricia, I'll try to contact, and visit, a number of places to list and recommend, but ProZ.com is not able to offer an on-line booking service for accomodations to the participants. It may be possible that I manage to close some kind of arrangement or reservation for a number of rooms in convenient hotels and B&B, for the reason that you have described (stay together with a group of colleagues, reach the Conference together, go back together in the evenings, perhaps share a taxi, etc.) I will post any news on this thread, as soon as possible. Andrew thank you very much, I will contact them and check if they can reserve some rooms for out group. There is still plenty of time, and we may manage to take some rooms (about 25-30) in a single place, for the participant's convenience, and then we monitor how fast they are taken and decide what to do next... If the conference is out of term time the colleges also rent out their rooms, don't they? Is there any way to arrange agroup deal via the colleges themselves?

You're not exactly wrong, but you'll have to do it yourself. That weekend is the end of 8th week, i.e. the end of traditional term, but things have changed in Oxford since my day (OK: 1962-65!), and a lot of undergraduates (we don't call them "students") now seem to stay up into 9th week. And also they now do graduation ceremonies (I believe they even throw their mortar boards in the air - comes from watching too much American TV) and there is one that weekend. I managed to get the last (single) room in my college, but you might have luck somewhere else, maybe St. Anne's, Lady Margaret Hall or Somerville (all former ladies' colleges not too far from St. Hugh's). Failing that, all the colleges have lists of recommended B&Bs etc., and if you send me a fax number, I'll fax you St. Hugh's list (it's on - ugh! - paper).
