Dear Translator,

Professional Short Course offered by the Centre for Translation Studies, Department of Culture, Media & Communication Studies, School of Arts, Communication and Humanities - University of Surrey
"Sectors, Money and Power - Tax, Finance, Energy, Insurance and Transport"
Monday 19th June - Friday 23rd June 2006

We have great pleasure in announcing the details for the above short course to be held in June 2006.

The course venue is the Continuing Education Centre in the Senate House Building on campus. It offers pleasant well-appointed facilities for the duration of the course.

The course fee of £699.00 includes all lectures and a social programme consisting of a welcome lunch and wine reception on the first day, tea, coffee and biscuits between lectures, a theatre visit on the Wednesday evening and a formal end-of-course dinner on the Thursday evening. Please note that we are also able to offer a daily rate for delegates wishing to attend individual seminars. Rates available upon application.

As in previous years, standard accommodation at an additional cost of £173.55 (current rate) will be available at the Y-Centre in the centre of Guildford, two minutes from the railway station and a twelve-minute walk from the University (should you prefer not to walk, there is a link bus which runs every ten minutes and stops outside Senate House where the Continuing Education Centre is housed). All rooms at the ‘Y’ Centre have colour television, tea and coffee making equipment with bathroom facilities shared between two rooms. The price includes breakfast daily and an evening meal Monday-Friday; all meals are taken in the Forum Restaurant which overlooks the River Wey.

You may also be interested to know that a new hotel, the ‘Travelodge’ has opened in Guildford. It is situated out of town but is just a 10-15 minute walk away from campus. We understand that they offer very competitive internet rates, please see: http://www.travelodge.co.uk

Guildford also offers a range of other guest house and hotel options. Please indicate on the booking form if you would like more information regarding these options.

We do hope you decide to enrol on our course and look forward to hearing from you.

My Master's cost me about 900 euros, and even if not funded by the EU, would have cost about 5000 euros for the 12 month course.....

I would be very curious to see what freelancers could afford the luxury of this Surrey course:-)
